Commonwealth Trust’s 2024 Events, Seminars, and Speaking Engagements

It’s been an exciting year for us at Commonwealth! Along with sponsoring and attending numerous events in the estate planning and trust field, our team was invited to speak at conferences across the country, giving us the opportunity to connect with many of you.

We’ve put together a list of the events we sponsored, attended, or spoke at this year. Winter 

58th Annual Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, January 8-12 in Orlando, Florida. Amy Brown and Jose Mercado attended and exhibited at the conference. 

The Delaware Banker’s Washington Visit, March 6-8 in Washington, DC.  Caroline Dickerson and Cindy Brown attended the annual trip to meet with federal legislators and agencies.

19th Annual International Estate Planning Institute, March 14-15 at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City, New York. We sponsored this event presented by STEP and the New York Bar Association. The conference was attended by Seth Raivetz, Amy Brown, and Jose Mercado.

Leimberg Information Services Inc. (LISI) Webinars, presented by Commonwealth’s President, Cindy Brown, and the Vice President of Legal Matt Magnotta. Cindy and Matt presented “Trust Protectors: Who are these Super Heros?” and “Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax Basics.” 

Spring

Leimberg Information Services Inc. (LISI) Webinar, presented by Commonwealth’s President, Cindy Brown, on April 23. Cindy presented “Letters of Wishes: Conveying Settlor Intent Effectively,” on how letters of wishes guide trustees beyond the fine print. 

Lt. Joseph Szczerba Memorial 5K, April 25 in Wilmington, Delaware. Commonwealth sponsored the event and David Wharton, Victoria Darling, Katie Kempski, Tyler Chalmers, Salvatore Campisi, Jimmy Horty, Bryce McGinley, and Jamie McGinley participated in the 5K. 

Wealth Management and Trust Executive Council Seminar. May 8-10 in Charleston, South Carolina.  Caroline Dickerson and Cindy Brown attended the forum of CEO’s, Presidents, Chief Fiduciary Officers, and senior executives.  In addition, Cindy presented on the topic of “Directed Trusts: When to Hold & When to Fold.”

Cambridge Forum on Private Wealth Law, May 15 in Atlanta, Georgia. Cindy Brown participated in the event, joining 48 other senior lawyers, trustees, private bankers, and CPAs, in candid, seminar-style discussions at the annual meeting. 

Boston Estate Planning Council, May 16 in Boston, Massachusetts. The event was supported by Commonwealth and attended by Jose Mercado and Amy Brown. 

Summer

3rd Annual Golf Invitational, September 16 at Fieldstone Golf Club in Wilmington, Delaware. Commonwealth was a proud supporter of the event. 

Leimberg Information Services Inc. (LISI) Webinar, presented by Cindy Brown and Matthew Magnotta on September 18. Cindy and Matthew presented “Trust Protectors: The Super Heroes for the Trust World” on Trust Protector’s powers and flexibility. 

The American College of Trust and Estate Council (ACTEC) 2024 Fall Meeting, September 19-22 in Chicago, Illinois. Cindy Brown co-presented “Come and Knock on Our Door, We’ve Been Waiting For You,” on how to greet unwelcome or difficult distribution requests that appear at your doorstep. 

The Delaware Financial Education Association Webinar, co-presented by Cindy Brown on September 27.  Cindy co-presented on “Advanced GST Tax Practices.”

Fall

The American College of Trust and Estate Council (ACTEC) 2024 Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting, October 18-20 in Wilmington, Delaware.  Cindy Brown co-presented “Letters of Wishes: Guidance from the Grave to Communicate Settlor Intent.”

Delaware Trust Conference, October 28-29 at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware. Commonwealth was a Silver Sponsor of the event, hosted by the Delaware Bankers Association. 

61st Annual NAEPC Conference, October 20-24 at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Commonwealth sponsored the Advanced Estate Planning Strategies Conference. 

13th Annual STEP Miami Summit, October 24-25 at the Ritz-Carlton in Key Biscayne Miami, Florida. The event was sponsored by Commonwealth and attended by Amy Brown, Jose Mercado, Jamie McGinley, and Matthew Magnotta.
